This book is not for the beginner, but rather for those with a solid grounding in petrology, mineralogy, tectonics and geochemistry. It is well illustrated and edited, and the illustrations are of good quality and consistency throughout. The text begins (Part I) with a brief overview of the definition, distribution and significance of ultra high-pressure metamorphic terranes by D.A. Carswell and R. Compagnoni. The rest of the chapters are organized under two main themes: (Part II) Reviews of Representative UHPM Terranes and (Part III) the Mineralogy, Geochemistry and Tectonometamorphic Evolution of UHPM Terranes. All the authors are well established researchers in this field.
Part II reviews six widely studied UHPM terranes: the Western Alps, the Western Gneiss Region of Norway, the . . . [Full Text of this Article]
