Phoscorites are ultramafic plutonic rocks that comprise magnetite, apatite and various silicate minerals, are usually found in close association with carbonatites and have appeared in the geological record from the late Archaean to the Palaeozoic. They offer insights into mantle and crustal processes and are associated with a variety of ores. This latest volume in the Mineralogical Society Series represents the first major English language text on these strange, interesting and economically significant rocks. The authors of the different chapters represent world-leaders in research on phoscorites, and this volume the current state of progress on the study of phoscorites.
