This welcome new edition expands all the information incorporated in the previous editions and includes the names and details of all well-authenticated meteorites up to December 1999 (22,507 in total). The work is subtitled "With special reference to those represented in the collection of the Natural History Museum, London", which maintains the official world database of all known meteorite falls and finds, including 15,000 new specimens recovered since publication of the fourth edition in 1985, many from Antarctica and the hot deserts of the world. Summaries and lists of meteorites by classification and geographic location are followed by the main catalogue (pp. 55545) arranged alphabetically by name.
